01Before you call

Helpful to have on hand.

None of this is required to call. It just helps us point you to the right option faster.

  1. Who needs care, and roughly how many hours a week
  2. Any long-term care insurance policy, if there is one
  3. The town or ZIP code where care is needed
  4. When you'd like care to begin
02Worth knowing

Medicare and home care aren't the same thing.

Medicare may cover

Home health

When a doctor orders it, the person is considered homebound, and care comes from a Medicare-certified agency.

Medicare generally doesn't cover

Personal care on its own

Help with bathing or dressing when that's the only care needed — and 24-hour care at home.

03Questions

Common questions about payment.

Is the in-home assessment free?

Yes. We meet with you and your family to learn what's needed, with no obligation.

Do you work with long-term care insurance?

Yes. We can provide the service documentation insurers typically ask for, subject to your policy's requirements.

Does Medicare pay for in-home care?

Medicare generally does not pay for personal care, like help with bathing or dressing, when that's the only care needed, and it does not cover 24-hour care at home. It may cover home health care when a doctor orders it and other conditions are met.

What should I have ready when I call?

Nothing is required. It helps to know who needs care and roughly how many hours a week, any long-term care insurance policy, the town or ZIP code where care is needed, and when you'd like care to begin.

Coverage, eligibility, authorization and provider participation vary. Contact Vital Home Care and your insurer or health plan to confirm benefits before services begin.
